Matt Goodwin

Reform UK have announced their candidate for the Gorton & Denton byelection, and it’s…

*DRUM ROLL*

…professor Matt Goodwin, a.k.a. the freak from this video:

@novaramedia

“I want a national unifying politics that puts Britain first…not any other foreign policy.” “Not Israel?” Aaron Bastani shreds Matt Goodwin’s argument to pieces on GB News.

According to Goodwin’s own website:

Matt Goodwin is an academic, author and broadcaster.

He was a university academic for twenty years. He is currently Honorary Professor of Politics at Rutherford College, University of Kent, Senior Research Fellow at the University of Buckingham and recently served as Senior Visiting Fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, at Chatham House, Senior Fellow with the UK In a Changing Europe, Senior Fellow at the Legatum Institute, and Senior Advisor to the UK Education Committee. In 2022, Matt was appointed Social Mobility Commissioner. He is forty-four years old.

It goes on and on like that for several paragraphs, including this:

He is regularly in demand as a keynote speaker including after dinner and client-facing events. He has given evidence to various parliamentary committees including the Home Affairs, Education and Public Bill committees and has privately briefed some of the world’s most well known political leaders including Prime Ministers and Presidents of major advanced Western democracies. He appears regularly in international and national media including BBC News, Financial Times, New York Times and Politico, among many others.

He’s on the dinner circuit; he’s at the awards ceremonies; he’s in the smoky back rooms, and he’s on the mainstream news. In other words, Goodwin is establishment to the core.

The video at the top begins with Goodwin stating:

I want a national unifying politics which puts Britain first, not Pakistan, not Gaza, not any other foreign policy thing.

Britain first.

Novara’s Aaron Bastani responds “not Israel?”, causing Goodwin’s head to rock back with exasperation. Bastani added:

The media’s just been talking about Israel and the IDF for the last four or five days. That’s what they talk about. You wouldn’t think that high streets in this country are on the way down or public services aren’t doing well or people are struggling with their bills. I hear so much about Israel.

With Israel’s entire metaphorical boot in his mouth, Goodwin answered:

Well, my personal view is Israel is a very close ally. Well, until recently, it was a very close ally of the United Kingdom.

He looked sad about this, explaining:

Unfortunately, Israel no longer feels that we are a reliable ally, thanks to the Labour government.

Israel was committing a genocide and Labour continued to support them (while sometimes superficially criticising what was happening). If that was traumatic for the Israeli regime, then FUCK THE ISRAELI REGIME.

Fuck them anyway.

If you think supporting genocide is in the UK’s interests, you have a vision for the UK which is entirely incompatible with human prosperity.

Later in the interview, Bastani said:

Do you know, in the last Parliament, do you know what percentage of Tory MPs were members of Conservative Friends of Israel? How many? 70%. Be friends of your own constituencies!

So this is who Reform have lined up for Gorton & Denton.

A guy who thinks Britain should provide unconditional support to a foreign nation committing the gravest of all crimes.

Oh, and if you’re a resident of Gorton & Denton and you disagree that the UK should be supporting a genocide, Goodwin will publicly denigrate you on behalf of this foreign power.

‘Britain first’, he says!

People had a lot to say about Reform’s latest move:

This is Matt Goodwin – Reform’s candidate in the by-election.

Britain first. Except for Israel…

He’s a faux-patriot, ethno-nationalist.

Greens will beat him.

Here’s Matt eating a book on national TV because he lost a bet, having predicted Labour couldn’t get 38% in the 2017 general election (they got 40% in the end):

It appears Reform have really raised the bar by announcing a serious political heavyweight in Matt Goodwin as its candidate for the Gorton and Denton by-election.

And perhaps most embarrassing of all:

Matt Goodwin, Reform UK’s candidate in the Gorton and Denton by-election, was the first guest on the Liz Truss Show

Could Goodwin win?

Remember when Goodwin laughed that Labour couldn’t even get 38% in an election?

Well, this is where Reform are in the polls, and yet they’re walking around swinging their dicks as if they’re on the verge of a landslide:

Now THAT’s what you call a Hung Parliament:

🔵 Ref + Con: 315
⚫ NI parties: 18
⚫ Speaker: 1 pic.twitter.com/W9bNhhSfqg

Reform could beat Labour in the byelection, however, owing to Keir Starmer’s cowardly decision to block Andy Burnham:

With Labour having given up, it currently looks like the Greens are going to be the real opposition to the establishment stooge from Reform.
