BUT the Soviet Union bore the overwhelming cost of defeating Nazi Germany in Europe, fighting the largest battles and suffering the greatest losses. And after the war, the US still recruited former Nazi scientists through Operation Paperclip. The Soviet Union also allied with the Nazis to carve up Europe between the two, and held part of Germany after the war. The USA had no obligation to help fight off the Nazis at all, the fact that they did makes them heroic.
All future generations should learn this lesson: fight for what is right. Stand united with our neighbors against autocracy and tyranny.
