Much of the news today has focussed on the Labour psychodrama, and whether or not Andy Burnham would run in Gorton & Denton. In all the confusion, the notorious Labour Party weirdo Ivor Caplin has somehow wormed his way back on to the airwaves:
@LBC producers are going to be in the shit over the guest @AliMirajUK just had on, or is it normal to invite guests that are on bail pending investigations into allegations they groomed a child for sex? pic.twitter.com/hjHYRpZy0m

If you’re unsure who Caplin is, you’re not going to be glad to find out.
Stung
We reported on Caplin’s disgrace a year ago, noting:
A suspended Labour member who once served as an MP and minister has embroiled himself in a child sexual abuse scandal. In a video posted online, you can witness a group of “citizen paedophile hunters” with an apprehended Ivor Caplin, who was allegedly there to meet what he believed to be a 15-year-old boy for sex:
Ivor Caplin, the former chair of the Israel lobby group the JLM, which is closely linked to the Israeli embassy, has been caught by paedophile hunters attempting to meet a child.

In that same piece, we reported that Caplin had a habit of posting hardcore gay pornography to his Twitter account; the same account he used for political purposes.
So all in all, he’s a bit of a fucking oddball.
The Caplin saga didn’t end there, either. A journalist who reported on the pervert Caplin found himself in court for… reporting on the pervert Caplin. The journalist in question was one Greg Hadfield, and he has since been acquitted of the vexatious harassment case. As our own Skwawkbox reported:
The judge’s verdict in the case is damning. Hadfield has published it here in its entirety – and it reveals that the prosecution doctored the tweet Hadfield sent. In essence, they made it look like he had just shared an explicit screengrab – not that he had screengrabbed a tweet liked by Ivor Caplin. The context here is of course crucial – as even the judge identified that Hadfield was acting as a journalist and whistleblower over Caplin.
Back on the airwaves to discuss Burnham
In the video at the top, Ali Miraj asks Caplin:
Lots of rumours and things swirling around about all sorts of people potentially preparing for the future in terms of a leadership bid. Are you plotting a leadership bid yourself, Ivor?
It would be a hell of a thing if he was given the accusations, wouldn’t it? Saying that, Donald Trump is currently in the White House despitea sexual assault conviction, so who can say what’s possible anymore?
Caplin responded:
I’m not planning a leadership bid myself. No, I’ve been there, I’ve done all that over the years
He’s done all that and worse, we’re sure. Caplin added:
I’m more than happy to come on and talk to you guys and all those sort of things, but I’m not planning to be a Member of Parliament.
At one point, Miraj noted that Caplin was the “former Labour Minister for Veterans”; he should have added ‘and suspected nonce‘.
In another clip, Caplin said that Burnham was best suited to stay in Manchester. So that’s good for Keir Starmer, isn’t it — that he’s got the support of this absolute mutant.
People have responded to the interview as follows:
Absolutely incredible scenes. @AliMirajUK is interviewing Ivor Caplin on @lbc about Andy Burnham. Do the @lbc producers not know that he was caught in a paedophile sting last January and is under investigation by the police?

Wronged journalist Greg Hadfield also commented:

As Hadfield notes, Caplin is linked to current Labour minister Peter Kyle:
Wow! The gall of the man.
Peter Kyle – best friend of Ivor Caplin – is concerned about sexualised imagery on X.
Will he now say why he said nothing and did nothing about his 67-year-old mate’s graphic pornography involving teenagers in his posts on X? pic.twitter.com/BIjc01ZYLN

As we reported in September, Kyle defended Keir Starmer making Peter Mandelson the ambassador to the US. The reason the situation required defending was because Mandelson remained friends with the dead paedophile Jeffrey Epstein after Epstein was convicted of sex crimes, and Starmer knew this when he promoted him:
‘You said, “his singular talents were worth the risk of hiring him”. Do you stand by that now?’@robbierinder and @kategarraway question Business Secretary Peter Kyle’s comments on former British Ambassador, Peter Mandelson. pic.twitter.com/3bHcHKpWsV

Grim connections
At a certain point, it becomes hard not to become conspiratorial. You see the links between Caplin and Kyle; you see Kyle defending Mandelson; you see Mandelson calling Epstein his “best pal“; you see Starmer hiring Mandelson despite all this, and you start to wonder ‘just what the fuck is going on?‘
There’s a chance LBC will claim this was all a mistake. Let’s hope they do feel forced to claim that, because if they don’t, we could see Caplin return to other programmes in future.
