The Nobel Peace Prize organisation has delivered a humiliating put-down to Donald Trump, and to the US and Israel’s right-wing Venezuelan puppet Maria Machado, after Machado tried to transfer her award to Trump. Trump had given Machado the cold shoulder after the recent US abduction of Venezuela’s elected president Nicolas Maduro and his wife. Insiders said Trump was jealous after the prize went to Machado.
Warmonger Machado’s win was just as ridiculous as a warmonger Trump win would have been. Trump even renamed the US Defense Department to the War Department. Journalist Julian Assange has lodged a criminal complaint in Sweden against the organisation that administers the Nobel prize with an accusation of abuse of process. However, the Nobel committee’s dry but stinging slap-down of the dire pair makes just the tiniest repair to its reputation.
In a statement on its website they stated:
A Nobel Prize cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred
Nobel Prize slap back at Trump
And, they further continued:
The Norwegian Nobel Committee and the Norwegian Nobel Institute receive a number of requests for comments regarding the permanence of a Nobel Peace Prize laureate’s status. The facts are clear and well established. Once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred to others. The decision is final and stands for all time.
It is not possible to revoke a Nobel Peace Prize. Neither Alfred Nobel’s will nor the Statutes of the Nobel Foundation mention any such possibility.
According to the Statutes of the Nobel Foundation, § 10, “No appeals may be made against the decision of a prize-awarding body with regard to the award of a prize”.
None of the prize awarding committees in Stockholm and Oslo has ever considered to revoke a prize once awarded.
As a matter of principle, the Norwegian Nobel Committee will not comment upon what the Peace Prize Laureates may say and do after they have been awarded the prize. The Committee’s mandate is restricted to evaluate the work and efforts of the nominated candidates up to the moment it is decided who shall be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for a given year.
A Nobel Prize can neither be revoked, shared, nor transferred to others. Once the announcement has been made, the decision stands for all time.
This does not prevent the Committee from following the future endeavours of laureates closely, even though it expresses neither its concerns nor its acclamation.
In a statement on social media, it noted that medals might be sold or given away, but the ‘laureate’, the award itself, cannot:
It measures 6.6 cm in diameter, weighs 196 grams and is struck in gold.
On its face, a portrait of Alfred Nobel and on its reverse, three naked men holding around each other’s shoulders as a sign of brotherhood. A design unchanged for 120 years.
Did you know that some Nobel Peace Prize medals have been passed on after the award was given? A well-known case is Dmitry Muratov’s medal, which was auctioned for over USO 100 million to support refugees from the war in Ukraine.
And the medal displayed at the Nobel Peace Center is actually on loan and originally belonged to Christian Lous Lange, Norway’s first Peace Prize laureate…A medal can change owners, but the title of a Nobel Peace Prize laureate cannot.
Former White House adviser Jesse Lee described the rebuke as a “historic humiliation” for not just Trump, but the whole US:
In an historic humiliation for America, the Norwegian Nobel Committee is forced to issue a statement making clear that no, a Nobel Peace Prize extorted from a duly awarded winner by an authoritarian president who has militarily seized her country as an oil colony, doesn’t count.

And all they did was quote their rulebook at him. Humiliating him would have been more like, “This committee cannot find any conduct of the current US president that is deserving of any award let alone one as recognized as the Nobel Prize”
I dunno, this seems a pretty great burn to me:
