Beijing, Jan 16 (Prensa Latina) Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and advocated for boosting a stable, sustainable, and mutually beneficial bilateral strategic partnership.

According to an official statement, Xi noted that the meeting held in October in the South Korean city of Gyeongju opened a new stage of improvement in bilateral relations.

The Chinese president underscored that both sides must act with historical responsibility and before their people to boost a new strategic partnership and steer relations toward healthy and sustainable development.

Carney, in turn, thanked the Chinese authorities for their hospitality and emphasized that the strategic partnership has created opportunities for the people of both nations.

The Canadian prime minister stated that both sides can, based on cooperation, build a new strategic partnership in accordance with the current global situation.

Carney is paying an official visit to China until January 17, amid the process of gradually improving bilateral ties initiated last year.
