“Corporate greed in this country is out of control.” United Airlines flight attendants took their demands to the picket line today in Chicago, demanding higher pay, more rest on longer flights, and better healthcare and retirement benefits. BT News spoke with flight attendants on the ground, who say they are fed up with working on an expired contract since 2021. United Airlines flight attendants overwhelmingly rejected a tentative contract last year, with 71% voting against the agreement. Members feel that the 27% raises offered are not enough to account for the 25% loss in purchasing power from going five years without a raise. The picket at Willis Tower today comes amid renewed contract negotiations.
