Reform

Earlier today, we reported that Kemi Badenoch had dramatically sacked Robert Jenrick:

I have sacked Robert Jenrick from the Shadow Cabinet, removed the whip and suspended his party membership with immediate effect.

I was presented with clear, irrefutable evidence that he was plotting in secret to defect in a way designed to be as damaging as possible to his… pic.twitter.com/zoSzFp0cKq

Now, Jenrick has confirmed this by standing shoulder to shoulder with Nigel Farage:

Nigel Farage makes a special announcement LIVE. https://t.co/4UrNH6YGf5

At this point, there are almost more Tories in Reform than the Tory Party. It’s almost like they’ve seen all the donors hovering around Farage’s operation, isn’t it:

Last week we learned that Reform UK received the largest donation in British political history from a Tory donor based in Thailand.

Farage’s party is a Tory rebrand. They’re funded by the economic elite and they serve the interests of the economic elite. pic.twitter.com/7gpI1BO6t0

‘Truth’ bomb

In the runup to the announcement, Jenrick posted the following:

It’s time for the truth.

— Robert Jenrick (@RobertJenrick) January 15, 2026

Those who watched the video were treated to another Tory poshboy complaining at length about the effects of the austerity he helped implement. According to Jenrick, he was actually against all the things which Reform voters don’t like about the Tories, which is convenient, isn’t it.

People noted the glaring hypocrisy evident in this latest defection:

Nigel Farage called Robert Jenrick a fraud, but it’s cool because he doesn’t agree with everything he says.

Robert Jenrick just called his former party rotten.

People have also pointed out Jenrick’s own personal hypocrisies:

Robert Jenrick on Farage:

“I don’t think Nigel is the bloke you want to have running your kids’ schools or running your local hospital or… trust your savings, your pension, your small business to.” (September 2025)

“I don’t think he’s a serious politician.” (Oct 2024) pic.twitter.com/IyoSLDvLhJ

Farage himself is one of the people who’ve called Jenrick out for speaking out of both sides of his mouth:

According to Farage, he’s a fraud. https://t.co/sovGO3nywp pic.twitter.com/wrTglSIgPk

— Mukhtar (@I_amMukhtar) January 15, 2026

Later in the announcement, Farage claimed there are plenty of Tories who want to cross over who he’s denied. So far, we’ve seen no evidence of them turning away anyone:

Has anyone told @Nigel_Farage that the author of the Online Safety Act was @NadineDorries who has now defected to Reform and was welcomed with open arms by Farage? https://t.co/NBSkzTdoCm

Farage also said that the doors will be closed to defectors after the May local elections.

One journalist noted that Jenrick is the 7th member of Boris Johnson’s cabinet to join Farage’s Reform Party. The same journalist asked Jenrick why he doesn’t call a byelection given his defection. In response, Jenrick explained that basically he just doesn’t want to.

More than one journalist asked if Jenrick is angling to take over from Farage as the Reform leader. Jenrick looked somewhat nervous when this came up. If the rumours about Farage being hostile towards potential competitors are true, it’s not difficult to see why.

Reform and Net Zero

Another thing Jenrick talked about was “insane Net Zero targets”. In his video titled You’ve been lied to about Net Zero, Clark says that people create misinformation around Net Zero as follows:

So these are the five steps of the anti-net zero playbook. Inflate the costs, ignore the cost of business as usual, ignore the operational savings, ignore the co- benefits, and most egregiously, ignore the costs of inaction. Not getting to net zero is going to cost the world much, much more

Clark also highlights that when people target the ‘cost’ of switching to Net Zero, they ignore the costs of not switching:

the second step often is is to pretend that we can just carry on with business as usual and it won’t cost us anything. Let’s say we’re talking about decarbonising transport. And then people say, “Oh, but you know, an EV that’s going to cost like £40,000. You know, that’s a huge investment. That’s expensive, right?” You know, and you add that up over all of the cars in the in the country and you suddenly get a big scary number.

Again, let’s say we just carry on with petrol cars. Petrol cars aren’t free, right? Okay, maybe you own a petrol car now, so you don’t have to buy a new one, but that won’t last forever. So, that’s step two is you basically pretend that the existing system, which we’ve already built and paid for, can just carry on forever and won’t ever need replacing.

Net Zero is one of the biggest cons that Reform are running, so it’s entirely predictable to see Jenrick joining in.

So why are Reform so against Net Zero, which will save us billions upon billions in future?

According to Chris Packham:

More than $454 million went into the Republican campaign in 2024, more than $90 million went into Trump’s campaign. Here in the UK it’s not a secret the fossil fuel companies are funding Reform and the Conservatives. These people are either denying something which is extremely dangerous, or they’re puppeting for their paymasters.

The gravy train is departing Tory Central, and it looks like Jenrick is leaving with it.

Broken

In his speech, Jenrick said that many of his fellow Tories believe “Britain is broken”, but they can’t say so, because it’s the Tories who broke it. The problem is Jenrick has held multiple ministerial positions in multiple Tory governments, i.e. he is one of the breakers.

The problem for Reform is that it’s filled with Tories who are shouting that the problem with this country is the Tories. Quite how long they can get away with this laughable hypocrisy for we don’t know, but they’re treating the electorate like mugs.

Ironically, Farage said the Conservative Party will cease to exist as a political party after the May local elections. The Tories haven’t gone anywhere, though; they’ve just changed their colours from blue to turquoise.
