Gaza journalist Bisan Owda won multiple awards for her 2024 documentary from the midst of Israel’s genocide in Gaza titled “It’s Bisan from Gaza and I’m still alive“. She was also one of four Palestinian journalists named by Amnesty International for its “Human Rights Defender” award.

Well, Bisan is still alive – miraculously, given Israel’s slaughter of more than 350 Palestinian journalists in Gaza to silence their voices. But her heart is breaking.

Israel’s genocide in Gaza has never ended. As in every ‘ceasefire’ before it, Israel is bombing Gaza daily during the current ‘ceasefire’ – and continues to block shelters, building materials and equipment from entering Gaza as the occupation weaponises the winter weather to continue its mass murder and ethnic cleansing.

And in a new video released overnight in the early hours of Tuesday, a heartbroken Bisan greeted viewers:

from Gaza, where there are many reasons to die and few reasons to survive.

She then went on to describe some of the horrors that she had seen just in the past day, as bombs, bullets and weather continue to devastate Palestinian civilians and families.

Owda’s journalism was always marked by her defiant positivity in the midst of horror. It makes it even more crushing to see her so broken now as Israel’s impunity continues:
