Here in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand the PSNANZ (Palestine Solidarity Network Aotearoa New Zealand) with the NZDE (New Zealanders for a Democratic Economy) held a snap rally on Monday 5 January at the Bridge of Remembrance against a war on Venezuela by the USA. It was attended by about 70 people.
John Minto of PSNANZ (in the photo above) led the various speeches. He is a seasoned and principled activist whose actions go right back to 1981 when the Springbok rugby tour of the country was disrupted by activists like John. Unfortunately he woke up on Wednesday morning to damage to his property, but he took it in his stride.
At this rally, Bobbi read out the Declaration of Peace and handed out posters advertising our forthcoming Art Exhibition. After the hui (gathering) more people signed the World BEYOND War Declaration of Peace.
Deborah (sitting in the photo) read out a short statement from the Quakers of Aotearoa which can be found on the NZ Quaker website.
Please ask your community group to speak up for the rule of law.
Draft a statement for them to approve of.
Send it to politicians and newspapers and talk about it to one and all.
