According to the Daily Record, the royals have advertised two new job vacancies for housekeeper positions at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Of course, they’re reportedly set to underpay two Scottish workers – what else could you expect from work-dodging parasites?

Royals out of touch with their lowly subjects
The Daily Record states that the Monarchs are looking for two candidates who “must be well organised, exercise attention to detail and aim for the highest standards“. However, the Palace appear to have overlooked a pretty significant detail themselves.
The Scottish national minimum wage for 2026 is currently set at £12.71, suggesting the penny-pinching royals are taking no notice of the recent increase given they are still offering just £12.60. The two contracts available are for 20-hours a week, requiring flexible working, with one permanent and one 12 months fixed-term contract.
Quite ironically, the advertisement reads:
We know that to deliver our best work; we need to feel at our best. That’s why at the Royal Household we offer a generous benefits package designed to support your wellbeing and life priorities.
Well, yes, the candidates will need state benefits to top up their income so they can survive in an increasingly expensive society, but that’s hardly a ‘benefit’ afforded by the king and his rabble of posh twats who haven’t earned any of their riches.
King Charles is advertising housekeeping jobs at the Palace of Holyroodhouse for a princely £12.60 an hour. A rate that falls below Scotland’s projected 2026 minimum wage. Apparently, scrubbing royal toilets is meant to be its own reward.

Outdated institution
Choosing to disregard Scottish employment law has highlighted how little regard the royals have for the very real challenges that people face just to keep their heads above water – even their own employees,apparently. As a result, the fresh controversy is unlikely to help repair the fracturing relationship between citizens and our inherited rulers.
As our own Rachel Swindon put it in November:
this regime survival cosplay from Charles is too little, and way too late and serves as nothing more than a PR plaster on a gaping wound of institutional rot – much like Reeves and the Labour Party.
Abolish them.
