In statements to Sputnik Radio this Wednesday, the diplomat reacted strongly to Washington’s assertions that the operation in Venezuela was “bloodless,” noting that the US side is ignoring the deaths of dozens of Venezuelan and Cuban citizens.
“So, how is it that no one died? And aren’t the citizens of Venezuela and Cuba human beings? I have a question: in what dimension do we live? I want an answer.”
Zakharova said she was taking the opportunity to ask: “When the United States says that this supposed operation was bloodless, does that mean it doesn’t consider the citizens of Venezuela and Cuba to be human beings? Who gave them that right? Who gave them the right to ignore the bloody consequences they themselves caused, the consequences of their actions?”
The diplomat also noted that the UN did not adequately assess the loss of life resulting from these events.
