Caracas, Jan 6 (Prensa Latina) Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez reaffirmed his support and that of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) for Venezuela's interim president, Delcy Rodriguez, according to press reports.

The official assured that the FANB will continue to prioritize “peace as both a means and an end,” as Nicolás Maduro, “their commander-in-chief,” has always emphasized, in order to preserve the “sacred good of independence,” according to a report by the multi-state network Telesur from Caracas.

“The nation continues its unstoppable march toward economic prosperity, development, and the reconciliation of all Venezuelans,” Padrino López stated, demonstrating the commitment to national unity and the country’s stability.

On January 3, the United States perpetrated an armed attack against Venezuela that resulted in the kidnapping of constitutional president Nicolas Maduro and first lady Cilia Flores, who were taken to New York.

In this context, the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela ordered the transfer of “the corresponding duties and powers of the presidency of the Republic” to Delcy Rodriguez, which was formalized with her swearing-in before the National Assembly on January 5.
