A statement released here by the political formation, signed by the president of UAT, Banter Wonder Mahlatsi, assessed that the violent action violates the United Nations Charter, which expressly prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State.

This also constitutes a violation of the national law of the United States because, under its Constitution, any military or paramilitary action against another sovereign State requires explicit authorization by Congress.

“No authorization has been granted in this case. Any extraterritorial action against a foreign head of state without congressional approval is illegal, unconstitutional and represents a dangerous usurpation of democratic supervision,” referred the political formation.

Noting that “no country, regardless of its military or economic power, is above the law, the party leader said that allowing such violations would set a precedent which would threaten global stability by pointing out that power, not law, rules international relations.

“History will harshly judge those who remained silent in the face of such illegality. Today’s silence is a source of repentance tomorrow,” he said.

Amid a growing wave of international solidarity with the Venezuelan cause, the spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ravina Shamdasani, said that the US military intervention violates the sovereignty of the Latin American country.

Further considered that this violates the UN Charter and international security.
