European leaders have tacitly endorsed US aggression and the kidnapping of President Maduro in Venezuela, exposing hypocrisy by condemning Russia’s military operation in Ukraine while backing “regime change” in Caracas.

      Looks like it’s just France.

They name some other countries leaders, diplomats, and MEPs that neither condemn nor celebrate. But, afaict, it’s only Macron that has supported it.

    Headline says “cheer”.
    Description says “tacitly”.

How does one “tacitly” “cheer” their support for something?

Just like the other commenter I can’t open the article, at least not without turning off safeties. I could read the RSS feed and that had condemnations of the coup from Spain & the Vatican, and 0 articles about any European nation supporting the coup.

I suspect that the article refers to the EU statement where 26 EU member States have collectively condemned the coup. Basically all members except the usual bootlicking suspect: Hungary. The EU also questioned the legitimacy of Maduro’s regime, but considering that the Maduro regime has been maintaining their rule through illegitimate means, that’s not really news and imo not enough to claim that there is “tacit” support for the coup. Not enough that is, unless you’re a fellow autocracy, so I get why an Iranian state outlet is upset with the EU pointing out the illegitimacy of Maduro’s regime. The EU statement: https://www.eeas.europa.eu/eeas/venezuela-statement-high-representative-aftermath-us-intervention-venezuela_en

TLDR: It looks like presstv.ir makes up news and very hyperbolic headlines to build a false narrative.

Because it’s more than one person that they’re writing about.

One cheers (France). Most tactically avoid condemning nor cheering.

The intent of this reporting appears to be identifying the hypocritical leaders who have condemned Russia for their invasion of Ukraine without also condemning the US for their invasion of Venezuela. I found it to be a useful article.
