According to the weekly newspaper El Popular, the PCU’s official publication, it is a “foundational event that irreversibly transformed the nation’s destiny and reaffirmed the sovereign will to build a social project based on justice, dignity, and independence.”

The text notes that this historic anniversary takes on greater significance as it coincides with the centennial of the birth of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

It affirms that his work and thought continue to be a guide and source of inspiration for present and future generations.

VFidel embodied, with strategic vision and profound humanism, the noblest ideals of the Revolution: the uncompromising defense of national sovereignty, solidarity, internationalism, equality, and social justice, El Popular emphasizes.

These are principles, the publication points out, that Cuba reaffirms despite complex and changing challenges, “faithful to its roots and open to the paths of improvement.”
