In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended, on behalf of President Nicolas Maduro, the Venezuelan people, and the Venezuelan government, its deepest and most fraternal congratulations to Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Army General Raul Castro, and the heroic people of Cuba.

Thee statement noted that this commemoration coincides with the birthday of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.

It pointed out that this memorable heroic feat “opened an irreversible horizon of dignity, sovereignty, and social justice for Cuba and for all of Our America.”

The text noted that the drums of emancipation resonate with the force of 67 years of victories, guided by the strategic vision and boundless courage of Fidel Castro, who, inspired by the ideals of Jose Marti, triumphantly entered Santiago de Cuba to forever free the Caribbean islands from colonial domination and imperial oppression.

“That dawn of 1959,” it emphasized, “not only represented a new day for our sister Cuba, but was the birth of the hope that ignited the torch of dignity and hope for all the peoples of Our America and the world who are fighting for their definitive independence.”

He emphasized that Venezuela and Cuba, united by the historical legacy of Bolivar and Marti, and sealed by the unbreakable brotherhood of Commanders Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro, “reaffirm today more than ever, in the face of grotesque imperial attempts to undermine sovereignty through blockades and aggression aimed at besieging our Caribbean, their unwavering commitment to continue moving forward together as sister nations.”
