Text reads: “On the eve of the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution and the New Year, we send warm congratulations to the people of Cuba, protagonist of the revolutionary foreign policy. We recognize their daily effort, sacrifice, self-denial, steadfastness, unity and patriotism in the face of the adversities imposed by the intensified blockade and other measures of suffocation and economic war imposed by the U.S. imperialist Government.”

Cultural events took place across the island as well. In Santiago de Cuba province, artists dedicated songs, poems, and dances to the anniversary of the overthrow of U.S.-backed dictator Fulgencio Batista.
