Coordination is underway with the Executive Commission for Victim Assistance (CEAV, in Spanish) to address all aspects of victim reparations, in accordance with the rights of those affected.

President Claudia Sheinbaum, in her morning news conference, stated that investigations are following international protocols, with parallel inquiries led by the FGR and the Rail Transport Regulatory Agency. Once completed, an external certification will be sought before service resumes under enhanced safety conditions.

Federal prosecutors from the Specialized Regional Control Prosecutor’s Office (FECOR, in Spanish) are leading the investigation from both central offices and the federal prosecutor’s office in Oaxaca, working alongside multiple authorities to determine the cause of the crash.

The probe is being conducted in coordination with Oaxaca state prosecutors, along with state-level bodies including the Government Secretariat, Civil Protection, and Police, and federal entities such as the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT, in Spanish), the Rail Transport Regulatory Agency, and the Secretariat of the Navy.

The Attorney General’s Office emphasized that work is proceeding “in strict compliance with protocols and procedures, maintaining chain of custody at all stages—particularly regarding the black box, known as the pulser.”

President Sheinbaum also expressed gratitude to authorities and civilians who assisted victims immediately after the accident and before specialized teams arrived.
