Clashes began yesterday between insurgents from the Congo River Alliance-March 23 Movement (AFC/M23) and local militias known as Wazalendo, in the community near Minjenje, in the Mpety area, on the border between the Masisi and Walikale territories.

Residents of Nzanganano reported heavy and light weapons fire and civilian injuries during the fighting, as well as a mass displacement of the population, with many residents taking refuge in the area’s forests, according to Actualité. CD.

AFC/M23 rebels maintain control of the village, but fighting may continue, given that clashes have been almost constant around Mpety throughout the year.
