At the same time, on the same day, air assets also destroyed armed bases belonging to irregular groups in an area of ​​the northern region of Timbuktu, a territory that includes emblematic sites that constitute a World Heritage Site, the document stated.

Following these operations, the Malian Armed Forces indicated that their armed units remain vigilant in the theaters of operations, prepared to strike against any enemy incursion.

Authorities in Mali, a Sahel country that suffered coups in August 2020 and May 2021, along with other countries in the region, including Burkina Faso and Niger, are demonstrating their determination to eradicate terrorist groups, such as the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims, an Al-Qaeda affiliate.
