The second most populous city in Andalusia, in southern Spain, with around 600,000 inhabitants, is one of the country’s cultural hubs, with other branch museums, such as the Georges Pompidou and the Thyssen-Bornemisza, whose main locations are in Paris and Madrid, respectively.

The Picasso Museum Malaga had a banner year in 2025 with 792,366 visitors, a figure that confirms the stabilization of visitor numbers and the strength of the institution’s cultural project, the institution noted.

The year began and ended with two exhibitions of the artist’s work, each with a different starting point: Picasso: The Royan Notebooks, and Picasso: Memory and Desire.
