The social media account Reform Party UK Exposed (RPEU) have published their ‘Reform UK Review 2025’. You can see the full list here, but we’ve shared some highlights below with additional commentary.
Seeing it all in one place, it’s clear that while Reform is riding high in the polls, that seal of approval isn’t based on the party’s actual performance.
Reform in Review 2025
RPEU’s first post was the following:
Reform UK Review 2025
After winning local elections criticising councils for raising council tax, Reform UK councils plan to raise council tax.

As we reported in October, Kent County Council was also eyeing up a 5% Council Tax rise. You’ll be glad to know that they did not proceed with this ridiculous 5% figure. They did, however, raise Council Tax by 4.989%.
So really, when you think about it, that’s a saving of 0.11 percentage points for the people of Kent who were worried about the 5% rise.

Reform UK plans to raise Council Tax, in all places they lead. This despite campaigning during the local elections on a platform that criticised councils for raising council tax…

Reform haven’t just raised Council Tax in office; they’ve also abandoned a pledge to reduce income tax, as Evolve Politics highlighted:
NEW: Nigel Farage is set to totally SCRAP his pledge to increase the tax threshold to £20,000.
This was essentially Reform’s only economic policy that would have immediately benefitted ordinary people financially.

Reform had a breakthrough year in terms of new councillors, but they’ve struggled to hold on to them:
Reform UK Review 2025:

One of those suspended Staffordshire council leader Ian Cooper. Cooper’s comments were brought to light by the anti-fascist monitoring group Hope not Hate. His alleged social media posts include the following:
- Calling Sadiq Khan a “narcissistic Pakistani”.
- Arguing that a Black British lawyer should have “F’d off back to Nigeria”.
- Describing London as a “3rd world shit hole”.
- Posting that broadcaster Sangita Myska was English ‘in her dreams’, and that she is “neither ethnically, culturally or historically English. Your diaspora isn’t NW European. All you have is a piece of paper entitling you to British citizenship”.
- Referring to Canarycontributor Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu as “Dr Shaga Bing-Bong”, adding “Time she F’d off back to Nigeria. She’d feel more at home there”.
DOGE
A big scheme for Reform this year was their ‘DOGE’ unit, which stands for ‘Department of Government Efficiency’:
Reform UK Review 2025:
DOGE is formed.
Head of DOGE, Zia Yusuf stands down because he’s “tired”. Team disbands. Then Richard Tice becomes head.
DOGE finds nothing noteworthy to justify its existence. pic.twitter.com/dYZ49TCilm

We also covered DOGE extensively – both in terms of Reform and the failed US initiative spearheaded by Elon Musk (which Reform’s DOGE is based on).
WOW! You can really see where DOGE began its work! https://t.co/5QGSDDn3XB

Donald Trump and Elon Musk have been making a right old mess of the US government. While there was always much to criticise about the country, Musk and his so called ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ (DOGE) haven’t been going after the programmes which make people’s live worse; they’ve been going after the ones which make things borderline tolerable. Now, Nigel Farage is threatening to do the same thing to councils across the UK.
Speaking after the failed Musk operation,DOGE employee Sahil Lavingia said:
I did not find the federal government to be rife with waste, fraud and abuse. I was expecting some more easy wins. I was hoping for opportunity to cut waste, fraud and abuse. And I do believe that there is a lot of waste. There’s minimal amounts of fraud. And abuse, to me, feels relatively nonexistent. And the reason is — I think we have a bias as people coming from the tech industry where we worked at companies, you know, such as Google, Facebook, these companies that have plenty of money, are funded by investors and have lots of people kind of sitting around doing nothing.
Back to the UK, this is what we reported in November:
Reform aren’t in government yet, but they have focused their DOGE unit on the councils they run. As reported last week, however, they ‘haven’t found any waste‘.
Huh.
They arguably can’t be looking too hard, given that one Reform council announced a plan to spend tens of thousands of pounds on flags:
£75,000 for 164 flags.

Still, there is one way that Reform’s DOGE is being economical, and that’s ‘with the truth’, as Joe Glenton wrote in December:
Bullshitters-in-chief Reform UK claim to have made £1.7 million in savings for Lancashire County Council. The problem is the savings are for the year before their Benny Hill Brigade councilors actually took over. Incredible work once again, lads.
Great idea not to mention that the entire saving was made in the year ending March 2025, two months before Reform took over. pic.twitter.com/UeVm20Y32c

Far from saving money, Reform politicians have actually been eyeing up pay increases for themselves:
Reform UK, costing you more money.

Reform UK Mayor Andrea Jenkyns calling for more pay.
Reform UK Staffordshire calling for more advisors.

On 19 September, we covered the Reform mayor who wanted an ‘eye-watering’ budget bump to tackle ‘non-mayoral concerns’. The latest instance of reverse-cuts is the leader of Durham County Council arguing that councillors should be paid more.
Here’s the thing, though, we’re not saying that’s wrong, but we are asking how Reform can maintain its position on cuts when the first thing its politicians ask for in office is more money?
Themes
A big theme in the review was ‘lies’:

Another big theme was ‘violence’:

The final theme was, of course, ‘racism’:

2026
So that was Reform’s 2025.
What does 2026 have in store?
If the polls play out, Reform could be taking councils up and down the country. Let’s not forget, though, that there are still more than enough people in this country who can’t stand Reform, and when they come together, Farage and .co are eminently beatable:
Reform UK Review 2025

As the result is announced, Llyr Powell is standing all alone, defeated and abandoned by Reform UK and Nigel Farage.
