The newspaper highlighted that the latest victim was shot yesterday, when a man, identified as Ali Raed, was shot in front of his eight-year-old daughter in the town of Qalansawe, in the center of the country.
“Levy’s figures are completely false; this is the bloodiest year for our community,” Khaled, the victim’s brother, responded.
“We want the police to confront crime because we have lost our security, while weapons have become a threat to our families and homes,” he emphasized.
The newspaper highlighted that the record low to date was 2023, when 244 murders of members of this minority group, comprising just over two million people, were recorded, although last year was also high with 237.
In February, the mayor of Lod, Yair Revivo, criticized the government for its lack of clear action to combat the violence and criminal gangs plaguing the minority, which represents just over 21% of the total population.
