The desperate spoilsport NTF-Elcac issued a statement on the same day that the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) marked its 57th anniversary two days ago, belittling the CPP and New People’s Army (NPA) as having been reduced to a “sunken organization” and “a band of isolated bandits.” Yet, they devoted more than a thousand words, if only to insist that the Party has nothing to celebrate, and commend themselves for having fulfilled its role.

In truth, the very existence and insistence to exist of the NTF-Elcac is the clearest proof of its failure. If the NTF-Elcac really wants to prove that the CPP is no longer a political force, the best demonstration of its achievement would be to self-dismantle and call it a day. Instead, they lobbied for more than ₱8 billion in their infrastructure kitty, despite broad calls from church, human rights organizations, youth groups, media for it to be dissolved.

They try to paint the handful of traitors now in their employ as credible sources of truth, obscuring the fact that traitors are nothing but traitors, who are willing to tell the biggest lies to the satisfaction of their masters-captors and likely future executioners.

The NTF-Elcac’s claims that there are “tangible improvements in the people’s lives” are grossly inconsistent with concrete realities on the ground (widespread joblessness, landlessness, high cost of living, low wages, and lack of basic social services), which is now reflected in the widespread disenchantment of the Filipino people with the Marcos regime.

It is self-contradictory for the NTF-Elcac to claim that “community leaders no longer welcome the NPA” when, in fact, the Marcos regime continues to rely on using military force to impose its will on the people. Majority of AFP battalions continue to operate and carry out brutal suppression campaigns against peasant communities in the supposed non-existent guerrilla fronts of the NPA, where they inflict martial law suppression on the peasant masses in thousands of rural villages suspected of supporting the NPA. The AFP also has plans to enlist as regulars the 50,000 to 80,000 paramilitary forces under the CAFGU.

All these, however, will fail as the Party continues to steadily advance the national democratic revolutionary struggle, impelled and inspired by the current rectification movement. We urge everyone to closely read the Central Committee’s statement which thoroughly tears the web of lies of the NTF-Elcac.

The statement points to the crisis conditions in the Philippines brought about by the Marcos regime’s (a) corruption and thievery of massive amounts of public funds, (b) partnership with foreign corporations in the plunder of country’s resources and environmental destruction, © collusion with the US and complete surrender of the country’s sovereignty to serve US warmongering in Asia, (d) oppression of the people in the form of non-stop price increases, low wages, land grabbing, widespread unemployment, economic dispossession, climate disasters, and so on.

All these present excellent conditions for the Party to deepen the people’s understanding of how their suffering is deeply rooted in the semicolonial and semifeudal system, urge them to advance their national and democratic struggles, rouse them to wage revolutionary struggle, strengthen their revolutionary organizations in the NDF, join the Party, and wage armed struggle.

Because of its fidelity to its principles and the Filipino people’s aspiration for national and social liberation, the Party, leading the NPA and other revolutionary forces, has not only preserved itself but has also steadily regained ground after a period of setbacks. It is now in a position to make bigger strides in leading the people’s revolutionary struggles in the coming years.
