Lopez Miera, who also holds the title of Hero of the Republic of Cuba, joined the revolutionary struggle in the Sierra Maestra and later on to the II Frank País Eastern Front.

He has passed through the various posts and ranks until becoming a minister of the armed institution.

Carried out internationalist missions in Ethiopia and Angola, demonstrating Cuba’s commitment to international solidarity and cooperation.

As founder of the PCC, member of the Political Bureau and deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power, he has played an important role in forming new generations and leading strategic processes.

His decorations include the orders of Ernesto Che Guevara, Camilo Cienfuegos and Antonio Maceo, in recognition of a lifetime of service and dedication to the nation.
