The Provincial Delegation of Agriculture in the province specified that the program covers 1244 productive structures and a total of 1278 hectares distributed between organoponic, technified plots, intensive orchards, and agricultural fields.
“During 2025 there was an average of 10.2 kg of production per square meter, a figure that confirms the validity of the model even in the midst of material limitations,” said the head in charge in the town of Vueltabajo, Lerida Maria Sanchez.
She also said that at the end of this month, 5,000 family courtyards were added, reaching a total of 65,000, contributing to the self-sufficiency of families and communities.
According to the Provincial Delegation of Agriculture, several international collaboration projects provided irrigation systems with solar panels, seeds and equipment for the production of preserves and condiments, as well as a tricycle for marketing in nearby communities.
Thirty-eight years after its creation, urban agriculture faces the challenge of overcoming its own results and responding to the growing demand of the population, consolidating itself as a strategic alternative for the nation’s food security.
