On Thursday, Cuba and Russia signed an agreement to create Synergy Global Biopharmaceutical, a joint venture dedicated to the development, production, and marketing of biopharmaceutical products.

The company will focus on high-impact medications to treat cancer, brain diseases, autoimmune conditions, and other chronic non-communicable diseases. This joint venture strengthens shared technological sovereignty.
Both countries are committed to ensuring that future medications improve the health of the populations that need them most. The alliance demonstrates that cooperation between peoples is measured by the capacity to create and “share solutions that dignify human existence.”
According to BioCubaFarma, the project is the first company of its kind with Cuban participation headquartered in Russia. Beyond bilateral cooperation, it aims to benefit populations in Latin America and Eurasia.

Havana confirmed that the agreement marks a strategic step in bilateral biopharmaceutical cooperation, and accelerates the research and availability of innovative medicines for patients in various regions.
The initial programs will focus on oncology and chronic illnesses, with representatives from the Cuban medicine industry who assert that the results will have a significant impact on public health.
Medical treatment includes prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care, which are essential for controlling cancer, despite the complex availability of medicines and material limitations in the country.
