Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a Christmas message from Moscow to his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, congratulating him and reaffirming Moscow’s “unwavering solidarity” in the face of the “external pressure” Venezuela is experiencing.

In his message, Putin offered his “heartfelt Christmas and New Year’s greetings” to President Maduro, whom he addressed as “Your Excellency, Mr. President, Dear Nicolás.” The Russian leader noted that the “past year has been quite successful for Russian-Venezuelan relations.”

The Russian leader emphasized that the “signing of the Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Treaty created the conditions for a qualitative and constructive increase in interaction in all areas.” This milestone, Putin stressed, marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

Putin also reiterated his unwavering solidarity with the people of Venezuela, who are facing unprecedented external pressure. This statement underscores Russia’s continued support for Venezuela amidst the multifaceted aggression waged by the Trump administration, which has included the seizure of ships carrying Venezuelan oil, the threat of a naval vessel, and the largest military deployment in decades in the waters of the Caribbean Sea.
