Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan received a high-level delegation from the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas on Wednesday, December 24. The meeting, held in Ankara, focused on assessing the feasibility of the second phase of the peace plan designed for the Gaza Strip, where the Palestinian population survives in extreme conditions as a result of the genocide perpetrated by Israel.
During the session, Foreign Minister Fidan reiterated that the Turkish government will maintain its firm defense of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people in every multilateral forum and international organization. The diplomat detailed the technical efforts that Turkey is currently undertaking to mitigate the housing crisis and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to the enclave. Turkey’s position seeks to break the siege that is suffocating the civilian population under the constant siege of the occupying forces.

For its part, the Hamas delegation, led by Khalil al-Hayya, denounced Israel’s systematic breach of agreements, arguing that the movement’s desire for peace is being thwarted. Al-Hayya emphasized that, although they have complied with the terms of the truce, Tel Aviv’s persistent hostilities are blocking progress toward lasting stability. The lack of security guarantees is preventing the implementation of the necessary protocols for the structural reconstruction of a territory devastated by bombing.
Another critical issue addressed at the meeting was the alarming shortage of basic supplies. Palestinian representatives warned that 60 percent of authorized transport is allocated to commercial purposes, leaving minimal resources for emergency humanitarian aid. This disproportion exacerbates famine and medical shortages in Gaza, becoming a tool of political pressure that violates international humanitarian law and the fundamental principles of human life.
In #Gaza, conditions remain dire and humanitarian needs are overwhelming. Families continue to endure severe shortages and widespread destruction.
According to @theIPCinfo, 1.6 million people face acute food insecurity.

International analysts agree that this dialogue strengthens Türkiye’s position as an independent mediator in the face of Western pressures aimed at isolating Palestinian forces. Ankara opted for a balancing strategy that prioritizes its historical commitment to the liberation of Palestine over external directives.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue working on mechanisms that will allow for effective reconstruction and a fundamental political solution to the conflict. While the international community observes with caution, the strategic alliance between Türkiye and the representatives of Gaza is emerging as one of the few viable paths to halting the genocide.
