Narinder Kaur has drawn attention to a recent incident of alleged racial abuse and recorded assault which took place at a supermarket. The woman making the accusation alleges the man told her that her ‘days were numbered’:

Assault
Although the man initially denies that he said her days were numbered, he later responds to the question ‘why are my days numbered’ by answering:
Because you’re shouting and screaming in public.
At the start of the video, the woman filming asks the man:
My days are numbered. Excuse me, what did you say? My days are numbered. Why are my days numbered? Go on, admit it on camera. Admit it on camera. My days are numbered. Why did you just assault me for? Why did you just assault me? Don’t walk off. Don’t walk off. Why are you assaulting me for? He just assaulted me! He said my days are numbered!
The reason she’s saying this is because the man violently shoves her. Although it moves fast, it looks like he pushes her phone into her face. This seems to be a clear case of assault.
At the end of the aisle, supermarket staff appear, and the man exclaims:
This woman is crazy!
She responds:
I’m crazy? Your wife, whoever you were with, first came up to me and abused me, then you came up to my face and abused me! You came up to my face and abused me!
The man then claims the following:
You came up as you’re screaming now! She’s throwing things at me!
Then, in true patriot style, it becomes about defending the man’s wife:
You were screaming at my wife.
However, the woman alleged that the wife:
was abusive towards me. Your wife, where’s your wife now? Why can’t she, why was she abusing me? And then you came up because she couldn’t handle it. Why are you coming up to my face for? You’re a big man, you’re a big man. You’re a big man. You’re a big man…
He walked past me and said, my days are numbered. Like, what’s he going to do? My days are numbered.
‘Legitimising’ racism
Rather than being met with the disgust it warrants, racists want to blame the victim for standing up for herself even in the face of the man putting his hands on her:

‘It’s her fault, she got on my nerves’ vibes
Seemingly they think that telling a woman ‘her days are numbered’ is something she should have just shirked off as a bit of innocent chit-chat.
Something tells me that if the roles were reversed, they wouldn’t be saying the same thing. Instead, they’d likely be saying that a certain minority is out to ‘kill or replace them’.

Of course, the racist tropes surrounding ‘angry’ Black and Brown women are nothing new – but, much like Zarah Sultana repeatedly experiences, these women have to defend themselves in the face if t day in, day out, regardless.
