Venezuela’s Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace Diosdado Cabello accused the United States of a long-standing campaign to seize his country’s natural resources, citing a message shared by U.S. President Donald Trump as proof that Washington’s stated concerns over democracy and drug trafficking are a pretext for controlling Venezuela’s energy wealth.

Cabello recalled that for 17 months, the White House has commited “psychological terrorism” against Venezuela, using media campaigns and false narratives to justify sanctions and blockades.

In his live TV address, “Con el Mazo Dando“, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) leader also lashed out against opposition sectors that act as “lackeys of the empire.” Cabello pointed directly at far-right figure Maria Corina Machado, whom has promoted narratives that seek to justify a military intervention.

“Only a person with a profoundly rotten soul like Maria Corina Machado and all those lousy followers who play along can claim that 60% of Venezuelans are drug traffickers,” he said, rejecting the U.S. smear campaign against the nation and its citizens.

Venezuela’s Right Wing Accused as Foreign Pawn

Cabello further linked Maria Corina Machado to foreign business interests, stating that she is a pawn of corporations like ExxonMobil and U.S. political figures like Marco Rubio who seek to plunder Venezuelan resources.

According to the Venezuelan Minister, the extreme right in his Venezuela has even gone so far as to discuss plans with mercenaries to execute violent actions in embassies and generate incidents that provoke international reactions against Caracas.

Cabello insisted that no agreement or external pressure can be above the Venezuelan Constitution, and that any attempt to justify foreign claims on land or resources will be rejected.
