Beijing, Dec 17 (Prensa Latina) China criticized on Wednesday Japan's attempts to justify its stance on Taiwan to Western countries and accused Tokyo of distorting the truth and evading historical responsibility.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that Japan’s actions reveal a persistent tendency to falsify facts, deny mistakes, and falsely portray itself as an innocent victim on the international stage.

Guo underscored that sectors of the Japanese right have downplayed war crimes, such as the looting of Nanjing, which they call the “Nanjing Incident,” and have whitewashed the atrocities of Unit 731 and the forced sexual and labor slavery during World War II.

The spokesperson added that, despite its rhetoric of “exclusive self-defense,” Japan has progressively expanded its military capabilities, relaxed restrictions on arms exports, and considered revising its anti-nuclear principles.

Guo indicated that the statements made by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi regarding Taiwan have generated outrage in China and criticism both within Japan and in other countries.

Beijing considers any foreign interference in the Taiwan issue a violation of its sovereignty.
