The Secretary General of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, stated this Monday that the political organization fully supports the Bolivarian Government’s decision to immediately terminate any contract or negotiation involving the supply of gas to Trinidad and Tobago, after its current Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, turned her country into an aircraft carrier against the homeland of Bolívar and Chávez.

He also called on the people to mobilize nationally against the hijacking of the Venezuelan oil tanker and the theft of assets.

“We want to announce the PSUV’s total and absolute support for the decisions that the National Government has been making in the face of the various attacks that U.S. imperialism and its national and international allies have been unleashing against our country,” he said, alluding to the decision made public shortly before by Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez.

During the PSUV press conference, Cabello read the statement released by the leader and emphasized that it was a sovereign decision in response to Trinidad and Tobago’s complicity with the U.S. in stealing Venezuelan oil.

“They are now attacking our country by trying to steal our resources,” the political leader stated, referring to the complicit attitude of the governments of Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana toward the interventionist and warmongering agenda of the empire. He emphasized that they will bear responsibility for any U.S. aggression against Venezuela.

In the case of Trinidad and Tobago, he also stated that its government supports massacres of citizens who were not investigated and tried legally, referring to the extrajudicial killings carried out by the White House in the Caribbean and the Pacific, which resulted in the deaths of more than 80 civilians at sea.

Among other messages, Cabello called on the people to mobilize this Monday, starting at 6:00 PM, to repudiate the US military threat and to celebrate the first anniversary of the election of the Justices of the Peace, among other milestones.

He recalled that this date marks, among other anniversaries, the 19th anniversary of the founding of the PSUV. “We have become a powerful tool to carry out the Revolution, defend the Constitution, and support the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro,” he said. “The party has become one with the people,” Cabello asserted, emphasizing that the organization has political and ideological strength and has become a point of reference for the people.

He noted that they remain in permanent mobilization and that, to date, 37,000 assemblies have been held as part of the expansion of democracy and direct citizen participation, through the debate on the new guidelines for forming the new structure of the ruling party.

The party’s anniversary coincides with the 36th anniversary of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. In this regard, he evoked the figure of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, whom he described as “a revolutionary” who “understood the path forward, which is why today we are the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.” He added that “Bolívar is everything to us. He is our origin and our destiny. His legacy transcended his time, and with Chávez, he once again walked the streets of the people.”

Referring to the need to defend the current Constitution, he asserted that “their (the extremist opposition’s) dream is to eliminate this Constitution. They need to abolish it so they don’t have to be accountable to the people” and can sell the country to imperialism.

He pointed out that while Cuba and Venezuela were sending doctors to Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake, which left an estimated 200,000 dead, the U.S. sent troops despite the enormous humanitarian crisis suffered by the Caribbean nation. That’s what the U.S. has accustomed us to, who days ago —Cabello recalled— brazenly stole a ship loaded with Venezuelan oil.
