Previously, on Nov. 20, the National Promoting Commission of the Working Class organized 22,110 grassroots assemblies across Venezuelan territory.

This vanguard movement, which emerges from workplaces and productive units across the country, was forged through an exhaustive democratic process. Workers elected three delegates per company and later chose municipal and state delegates who are attending the meeting in Caracas.

In an assessment of the grassroots assemblies, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro highlighted the scale of the Constituent Congress of the Working Class. “I believe the number of delegates will reach 100,000 men and women of the beautiful Venezuelan working class,” he said.

Numbers that speak volumes: 16,516 male and 12,374 female delegates elected, forging a new workers’ leadership. Assemblies as schools: spaces for training without dogmas or rigid frameworks. “This event seeks to multiply the will and effort of workers through a powerful leadership that is emerging from the will of the grassroots,” he added, referring to the workers’ most recent achievements.

“The Venezuelan economy has recorded 18 consecutive quarters of sustained economic growth, despite the unilateral U.S. coercive measures imposed,” the Bolivarian leader said.

Maduro also recalled that the working class must educate itself, receive training, empower itself, remain conscious, and create solutions and proposals in order to maintain itself as a vital force in Venezuela’s new economy.
