The Universal Guaranteed Pension, the 40-hour workweek, free public healthcare, women’s rights, and social protection are not guaranteed if we are divided, the party warned in a statement.
The PCCh issued the statement after Sunday’s elections, in which far-right candidate Jose Antonio Kast won by a wide margin against left-wing and progressive candidate Jeannette Jara.
The organization affirmed that unity today is not only an electoral option, but an obligation to the people.
As in every moment of history, the Communist Party of Chile accepted the popular decision expressed at the ballot box and called on its members and the people to rebuild trust.
We must, he affirmed, listen more deeply and speak to the entire country about what truly matters: that a dignified and just life for all is possible.
The Communist Party of Chile (PCCh) also acknowledged the work done by Jara and all those who worked on the campaign, emphasizing the importance of returning to grassroots work in local communities and building unity with the people of Chile as the task ahead, the text concludes.
