In that period, 14,375 people were arrested or investigated, of whom 93% were men and 7% were women. Of those, 1,206 were between 14 and 17 years old. The Interior Ministry also reported that 22% of the reported crimes were rapes.

Sexual harassment against women manifests itself in offensive catcalls, sexual innuendos, and insulting jokes, which occur primarily in homes, leisure venues, and workplaces, according to the Center for Sociological Research (CIS).

The CIS study on female victims of sexual violence in the country coincided with internal complaints in the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) against leaders, including Former Deputy Francisco Salazar.
