A notable new feature was a dedicated section for films from the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), following Cuba’s association with the bloc.
The festival’s awards, like the Glauber Rocha Award, reinforce its mission to promote socially committed cinema. The 2025 Coral Awards saw “The Secret Agent” win Best Director and Screenplay, validating films that blend artistic innovation with deep engagement in Latin American social realities.
This 46th edition paid tribute to the centenary of its founder, Alfredo Guevara, reaffirming the festival’s enduring principles.
