The New People’s Army (NPA)-Masbate, Jose Rapsing Command condemned the 2nd IB and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Palanas for arresting a fisherman with mental disability on the accusation that he is a high-ranking NPA official.

The combined forces of the 2nd Police Mobile Provincial Force and Palanas MPS arrested Juanito “Bonoy” Bultron, 56 years old, a resident of Barangay Teresita, Cataingan, on December 9. The PNP claimed he was caught in Barangay Malibas, Palanas, and is facing a murder charge. They also labeled him as the “municipal most wanted rank no. 2.”

According to the NPA-Masbate, the increasing desperation of the military and police is evident in their act of arresting a person with disabilities just to present an “accomplishment” against the NPA and the revolutionary movement.

The NPA-Masbate calls on the people of Masbate to remain alert to human rights violations committed by the police and military. Their operations will surely intensify as the 57th anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines approaches on December 26.
