I think the problem is usually the opposite. There’s a traditional problem among white male leftists to view everything through the lens of wealth and income, social barriers are assumed to be less important. This is one of the biggest reasons white leftists movements tend to fail. You need both identity and economic solidarity. If you face rampant discrimination and police violence, economic inequality simply isn’t your highest priority.
