I’m no expert but I think the soviets used testosterone in their distance running athletes and found it very helpful. It is banned in cycling and other cardio-centric sports where additional mass is not helpful so I’d wager it does something beneficial. I could be wrong though as I’m relying on a documentary I watched like 20 years ago.
