  • Oh, then sorry for my snark.

    no problem. 😁🙂

    Meh, the more I read about .world and the non-stop arguing that goes on there, I just don’t wanna be part of it. I’m kinda over the whole political divide thing overall too.

    Yeah, it gets tiring.

    I’m not really into politics and most of Lemmy seems to be really be into it. I just wanna stay neutral from now on.

    While the consequences can be grave, I often treat it like a sport. Some people watch the Superbowl or Worldcup. I watch TV on election nights.

    There are just so many people on Lemmy that seem to want to be and stay mad about everything. It’s tiring. I don’t know how they all stay mad for so long. lol

    and there’s the idea that the powers-that-be want us to be angry.

    Plus I have some rowing competitions I’m training for, so I gotta stay focused.

    Best wishes.

    Spring is 10 days old. I gotta get out too.

    Thanks for your clarification and sorry for my earlier attitude with ya!

    Again, no problem.

    Have a nice spring and summer (and year). 😁🙂

  • Note: I’m beginning to read your recent reply;

    and now I’m kinda regretting posting this. 😁🙂

    I know you are really really mad that your “protest” didn’t change anything. But that has nothing to do with me.

    I’m not mad. I’m a liberal in Canada (who votes, but never for the Liberal party, NDP, or PCs/Reform/Alliance/“new”-Conservative/whateverTF-they’re-calling-themselves-these-days).

    The way I figure it, if Trump lives and remains at least somewhat conscious, he will finish his term doing pretty much what he will. For sure the US will suffer, but I think they can handle it. Maybe in a year or so, some Latin Americans will be allowed back in to work American farms, some international trade will be restored, he will work out deals with the Venezuelans, Cubans, and Iranians, like he did with China and NK—pretend that he did much when he did little—and the world price of oil will go down because people will start to pay Iran more toll fees and/or the US and Canada (and others) produce more petroleum.

    2028?

    It could be a repeat of 1992, and we’ll see a President Vance;

    or it might be a repeat of 1960, 1976, 1992, 2008, and 2020: a somewhat charismatic Democrat gets elected, promises big changes, fouls things up (i.e. Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile crises, increase hostility with Vietnam, Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, Iran becoming a theo-fascist country, Sandinistas, Maurice Bishop, failed Arab Spring, fall of Libya into chaos, rise of Islamic State, Fall of Kabul (at least South Vietnam didn’t immediately collapse when Americans withdrew under a Republican President), and Russian invasion in 2014 and 2022).

    I don’t think Americans will go out of their way to protest.

    What did protests bring the Egyptians (about 10 years ago), Iranians (late 1970s or recently), Chinese in 1989 (oh, I know, Deng was suppressing a revolt /s), Cubans in the late 1950s (Miami might be too high and different for comparisons with Havana, but how about with Mexico City, Bogota, Buenos Aires (is Argentine-Australian colonist BadEmpanada still there?), or Montevideo)), etc?

    I suspect that we have different political views, but both of our kinds are also pretty impotent.

    Still, I don’t like to rain on parades.

  • Not impressive at all. By your stats, that’s 29 out of 30 people in America, not going to your event.

    Think about that. lol

    Nothing changed. Today is exactly like yesterday. Tomorrow, at work, what is different? lol

    Heck, even Lemmy didn’t have much to say about it this time around. It’s hardly mentioned. It’s not even on my front page today. I had to do a quick search to find articles about it. lmao

    I hope dems do a better job voting in the next election, than they do protesting. Or else things are gonna get even worse. lol
